We have been assigned the high privilege of living in these days. We have been assigned the duty of serving Christ in the midst of cultural and political turmoil. He has granted us various talents to spend and invest in this clown world, in this prodigal age. The Christian West still appears to be gnawing madly on the pig pods of lust and secularism, but during the occasional dry heaves that follow, there are occasional signs of regret. On the one hand, our civilization could continue to implode into a new Middle Ages, or perhaps God will have mercy on us and grant us a new Reformation. In either case it might not be a bad idea to have a pantry with some extra items and a backup generator and maybe a two-way radio. And some ammo.
As Francis Shaffer might have asked, “How should we then prepare?” I mean there are preppers and then there are preppers. There’s prepared and there’s paranoid. What should Christians do in this moment? How can we be ready, prepared for what comes next without panicking, without turning into cultish wackos?
